Identify your goals. Focus on your spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs and take responsibility in reaching out to meet them. Consider the question, \u201cWhat do I want to do?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set clear and healthy boundaries. Learning how to say no shows assertion and can be developed through practice. By saying yes to everyone, we can be saying no to ourselves. You are unique, don\u2019t try to supress your flaws, accept them instead. You do not need to live up to someone else\u2019s expectations and standards. You are worthy of love and acceptance, you are good enough!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">5 Ways to be Assertive<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>No should or ought\u2019s\u2026Instead choose words like \u201cI need, I will, I\u2019d like\u2026\u201d eg: \u201cI need the contract by 5pm today\u201d.<\/li><li>Avoid words that undervalue what you are saying. Rather than saying \u201cI could be wrong\u2026\u201d choose words such as \u201cI believe\u2026\u201d. Instead of \u201cthis is a crazy idea\u2026\u201d choose \u201cI have a novel idea!\u201d.<\/li><li>Set clear boundaries. \u201cI can meet you Wednesday but Thursday this week doesn\u2019t work for me\u201d.
